      Matthew Hagemann

      Born and raised in Hicksville, New York, time in the kitchen for Matthew Hagemann meant time with family.  Fortunately for us, he fell in love with cooking and looked forward to preparing pot roast alongside Grandma every week for Sunday dinner with his parents, grandparents, & younger brother.  Today, Matthew attributes his approach to cooking to those memories with his family in what he describes as elevated comfort food.  

      Matthew officially began his career in the culinary arts in 2003 studying locally whilst working at the Muttontown Country Club on Long Island where he acquired exceptional cooking techniques and skills.  He later graduated the Culinary Institute of America in 2007 completing an externship at the prestigious Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center thereafter.  Here, Matthew gained a love for fine dining as well as the fast-paced banquet atmosphere.  In New York City, he found the perfect place to combine these two pieces of the industry he had grown so fond of – the Trump Organization.  

      In 2008, Matthew started working at Trump Grill in Trump Tower where he excelled in the kitchen and was quickly promoted to Sous Chef.  Matthew adapted seamlessly to the high standards expected and put forth by the Trump Organization.  He oversaw and assisted in running kitchen operations, catering events, and cooking for the à la carte restaurant.  His enticing recipes have been featured in cookbooks showcasing his vast culinary abilities and were the gateway to his next move in the organization.  When Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point opened in 2015, Matthew was again promoted to the coveted Executive Chef position where he opened up its kitchen.  To develop the new property's exquisite menu, he drew inspiration from the melting pot that is New York City.  This all-encompassing menu highlights Matthew’s specialization in New American cuisine while incorporating a fusion of international flavors.            

      Executive Chef Matthew and his work are immeasurable assets to our dining room and we, as well as our guests, look forward to more of his delightful dishes that evolve with each season.
